Escape to Play is my debut picture book. Hand painted with acrylics, this project took years of hard work, passion, and dedication. I hope you enjoy!
Whimsical is how I describe my work. I live for the details in each hand-painted piece. I explore how the characters interact with each other and their environment.
Creating hand-draw or painted portraits, whether of pets, people or a favorite item, has been rewarding for over 20 years. Feel free to ask me about a custom portrait for you!
ABOUT
Becky Gehrisch is an author, illustrator, and entrepreneur. Her debut picture book, Escape to Play, launched in 2021. Between picture book projects, she works as a portrait artist and manages her boutique press, Bookling Media. Bookling Media’s second picture book, FLOAT, by Larry Daley, is slated for publication on February 3rd, 2026.
When she is not creating art and publishing children’s picture books, Becky promotes art and literacy education by speaking and conducting workshops for children, teens, and adults at schools, libraries, bookstores, conferences, and other venues. She is living her childhood dream creating art and children’s picture books.
